Sturgeon Characteristics
The sturgeon fish is a bottom-feeder in general.
It has a wedge-shaped snout that stirs up the soft bottom of the water and it uses its sensitive barbells detect shells, small fish and crustaceans to feed off of. It has no teeth to eat any larger prey.
The sturgeon is found almost exclusively to fresh water in the Northern Hemisphere and it isn’t found in tropical regions. The different species of sturgeons are equally divided between the East and the West. Most are now considered to be endangered or critically endangered.
